KIC at Dublin’s Irish Pub

Colton fulcher and Arthur Rone of KIC performed at Dublin's Irish Pub.

It had been awhile since I saw KIC. Last time they were playing a lot of Green Day-sounding songs (well, some of them were Green Day songs) at a Teen Jam at Wha Bahs. So it was nice to hear them do a full set of material, including some original stuff. They like it on the edgy side, and the punk influence comes through quite a bit. I mean, nothing says punk more than opening the evening with “My Generation.” So they’re playing a lot more venues and the set list is growing. And they’re maturing as performers too, and I expect they will continue to do so. Just practice and play, practice and play, boys.

I particularly liked an original they did called “Californ-I-A,” and they were scheduled to do three more of the five songs off their recently released EP. The set list also included some well-known covers such as “Joker and the Thief,” Beatles tunes “Come Together” and “Hey Jude,” a couple from Nirvana (“Heart Shaped Box” and “All Apologies”), and a long-time favorite of mine, “Working Class Hero.” Besides great tunage, you’ll receive a lot of energy from these guys. They are always on the move.
