The 12th annual Global Fest in the Barrens (www.barrenglobalfest.com) returns to Glasgow-Barren County on Saturday, September 1, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. To 8:00 P.M. held on the Glasgow Public Square in Glasgow, Kentucky. Global Fest is a Celebration of World Cultures and American Unity that promotes interaction among diverse individuals by discovering their similarities and differences. A fun filled day promoting Education, Entertainment, Children’s Activities, sharing and enjoying the Diversity in our community.

Kentucky Music will provide the Sound System that will fill the air with performances from Gospel Music provided by Men on a Mission. The Omega Force Christian Strong Team with the world’s greatest message will spread the good news. Mexican Artist-Mariachi Band from Lexington, Ky., Ernie Small Blues Band from Bowling Green, Ky. will present a Genre of Country, Motown, Blues, and 70’s Music. The Bailey Birge Band will enlighten the young people and seniors in the community with Country Music. New this year is Rev. Rap’Golightly a Christian Rap Artist. Our Head Liner this year is,Jenny Lu & Klassic Krew presenting a Genre of Country Music and a verity of music for the Heart.

Street Performers, Zingara Belly Dancers will dance in the street to the sound of Middle Eastern Music, Get ready to get energized with Zumba. The Glasgow Children’s Theatre directed by Edward Sakowicz will perform present and past Plays.

Charles Mansfield Auto Cruise In is organized by Brian Hogan All Makes and Models of Cars, Trucks and Bikes can exhibit their vehicles at the Festival. Specialty Trophies will be awarded to the winners.

Teens do you think you can sing? Global Fest Teen Idol is open to teens ages 13-19. Contest prize for the winner is $300.00 and a Trophy and second prize is $100.00 and a Trophy. Children’s World is sponsored by Glasgow Barren Co. Tourist and Convention Commission and United Faith Independent Church (next to Commonwealth Broadway Building). Children will talk to Minnie Mouse and Batman look a likes. Broadway the Clown will entertain the children with balloons and candy. Activities for the children will include Face painting, Inflatable’s, Piñata Burst, and International Crafts.

Cultural Educational Exhibits will include: African American, American, Chinese, Africa, Japan, Mexican, Native Americans Indians, Nicaragua, Philippine, and Thailand.

Tasty Cuisines will be provided by C & D Concessions, B&D BBQ, New Orleans Style Snowball , Tater BBQ, Pete’s Snack, Country Boy Grillin and Shogun.
