The Black Shades formed in November 2009 out of a cover band formed the month before (The Red Square) as a side project by members of the original Sleeper Agent lineup. After adding Jared Kowalski on lead guitar they left Sleeper Agent to dedicate full time to the Black Shades.
They play original tunes mixed with a cover or two. In 2010 original lead guitarist Jared Kowalski left to serve in the Navy. The group began recording their first EP ‘Turn Me On, Electric in February 2010 at 1313 Studios in Nashville with Mike Vecchio.
