Review: Tyler Matl’s Wonderstruck

Published 9:26 am Friday, March 2, 2012

Seventeen-year-old Tyler Matl would probably not like that I’m comparing him to Taylor Swift. However, while I listened to his album Wonderstruck, that’s exactly who I thought of.

Walking the line of country-pop, Matl sings songs about love, lost, and betrayal from the standpoint that only a seventeen-year-old can possess. And, man, are those songs catchy. “Turn Turn Turn” will be stuck in your head for days, but you’ll probably be okay with it. His song “Back in Vegas” is the strongest song, lyric-wise, on the album, and is quite impressive for a teenager to have penned. The album, overall, is very entertaining and, if you have a teenage daughter, she will love it. You can learn more about Tyler Matl on his website http://www.tylermatl.com.
