Thomas Lee Kaelin Sr., 83, of Dayton Beach, Fla., formerly of Bowling Green, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Hospice Care Center in Edgewater, Fla., at 11 a.m.
Tom was born in Louisville on Dec. 15, 1928, and was the son of the late Edward F. Kaelin and Estelle Bender Kaelin and father of the late Phillip A. Kaelin.
Tom was former owner of Tom’s Vending Service and Catering, and Kaelin and Son Amusement. He was a member of St. Paul Basilica Catholic Church in Daytona Beach, and a former member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Bowling Green.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nellijean Freudenberger Kaelin; nine sons, Thomas Lee Kaelin Jr. and wife, Meda, of Bowling Green, Douglas R. Kaelin and wife, Leona, of St. Augustine, Fla., John S. Kaelin and wife, Robin, of Charleston, S.C., Doc Kaelin and wife, Ann, of Bowling Green, Dr. David L. Kaelin and wife, Angie, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Joseph M. Kaelin and wife, Liz, of Lexington, Paul E. Kaelin and wife, Emily, of Bowling Green, Timothy J. Kaelin of Bowling Green and Samuel M. Kaelin of Palatka, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
