Orchestra Kentucky, The Rewinders rock band, and the Retro Singers perform pop/rock Christmas hits and yuletide classics of Mannheim Steamroller on Saturday, December 17th at 8:00 p.m.
This special event concert will feature holiday offerings from Elvis, Jose Feliciano, Brenda Lee, The Eagles, The Carpenters, Elton John, The Beach Boys, John Lennon, Kenny Loggins, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Bruce Springsteen, and more. The first half of the concert showcases Mannheim Steamroller arrangements of classic Christmas songs, like Deck the Halls, Silent Night and O Holy Night.
“I tell people that the concert is a collection of all the music you hear playing in stores this time of year,” said Jeffrey Reed, Orchestra Kentucky Music Director. “In other words, these are Christmas’ greatest hits. The holidays wouldn’t be the same without songs like Jingle Bell Rock, Feliz Navidad and Little Saint Nick.”
And, lest you think these are elevator version of the songs, think again. “We call what we do, record copies,” said Reed. “In other words, we attempt to recreate exactly what you hear on the original records.”
A Rockin’ Christmas will be performed one night only, Saturday, December 17th at 8:00 p.m. in Van Meter Hall on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Free shuttle busses will run from 6:30 until concert time from Mariah’s and The Brickyard Café. After the concert, they will return patrons to the same locations.
Tickets start at just $10 and are available online at www.OrchestraKentucky.com or by phone, (270) 846-2426 or, toll free, (855) 232-1452.
A Rockin’ Christmas is sponsored by Vickie & Dan Renshaw, Alice & Alvin Ford, and is co-sponsored by Graves-Gilbert Clinic.
