James Landon Dalton

James Landon Dalton, 76, of Bowling Green, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Greenview Regional Hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Edmonson County. He was one of 16 children of Luther and Lattie Raymer Dalton. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Randy, Hayward, Conrad, Denzil, Bruce and Brice.

He was a member of Lost River Church of Christ (formerly Twelfth Street), where he had served as a deacon for more than 40 years. He retired as supervisor of plumbing and heating at Western Kentucky University. He had formerly been the owner of W.D. Fiser Plumbing and Heating Company.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Jean Lindsey Dalton; two children, Pam Dalton VanMeter (Mark) and Landon Cary Dalton, all of Bowling Green; two grandchildren, Adam Mark (Brooke M.) VanMeter of Franklin, Tenn., and Brooke Elisabeth VanMeter of Bowling Green; two great-grandsons, Brody and Bryce; two brothers, Dallas (Mildred) Dalton of Indianapolis and George (Jean) Dalton of Bowling Green; seven sisters, Eva Spinks, Joann (James) Carson, Glenda (David) Garrett and Brenda Rupar, all of Bowling Green, and Era Mae (Robert) Blunk, Pauline Miller and Emma (Glendal) Booth, all of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lost River Church of Christ. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery.
