The owners of Wigwam Village in Cave City have organized a music festival for this weekend as a way to bring more people into town and to raise money for a community playground.

It is called the Faded Goat Festival.

There is a fainting goat farm behind Wigwam Village, but the name “Fainting Goat” has been trademarked by a restaurant. So organizer Sayeed Rahim said they settled on the name Faded Goat.

“We wanted something that would stick and prompt people to ask questions,” Rahim said. “We’ve had a lot of people smile and say they like it and are intrigued enough to want to know more about it.

“The main goal of this festival is to raise money to build a playground in Cave City. The existing playground is very outdated,” he said.

As of Tuesday, about 300 tickets had been sold and each of the wigwams at the Wigwam Village are reserved for the two-night festival.

Rahim said he hopes to raise $7,000 to $10,000 for the playground.

In addition to the music, there will be vendors, including an organic farmer, a jewelry maker, a hula-hoop maker and various food vendors. A fainting goat will also be on hand.

“The music is very eclectic,” he said. “We have rock and roll, techno, bluegrass, country and hip-hop.”

Fifteen bands from across the state and Nashville will perform, followed by a fireworks show Friday and Saturday. Some of the bands include Thee Japanese School Girls, The Running, Freebase Masons, The Karmadons, The Black Shades, Technology V Horse, The Sex Bombs, From the Barn, Dro-bot, Cotton Creek, Fat Box, Schools, Billy Swayze and others.

Tickets are $20 before the show and $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at Tidballs or by calling 270-681-5352. Parking is $5.

Bands will perform from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. Camping setup starts at 2 p.m. Friday.
