Lead singer Matt Shultz told the Daily News “We’re getting the word out that Starry Nights isn’t gone away. In 2012, it’s going to be the best it’s ever been,” he said. “Since we’re not doing it this year, here’s a free concert. We love you guys, and we love the community…. Since I was in high school and went to my first show, Bonnaroo, I’d hoped something like that would happen here. The people in Bowling Green are crying out for something like that,” Shultz said. “I’d heard about Starry Nights Music Festival. Some of my friends started it and have been growing it.”

Cage the Elephant, which as always been very supportive of other local bands, assisted with the Starry Nights Festival in 2010, extending the length of the event as well as attracting nationally known talent.

During the year off, Starry Night’s organizers are soliciting feedback from fans as to what groups they would like to see perform in 2012.  Visit their facebook page to vote.
