In the second of a mini-series of in-store concerts this July, Great Escape Records & Comics presented three solo artists who are currently on tour together. And that means sometimes they play and sing together too.  I missed Ms. Porter’s set but saw her perform with Rachel Pearl. Ms. Kirk did several tunes in her diminutive, relaxed vocal style while accompanying herself on keyboards. Ms. Pearl, who is no stranger to Bowling Green having played here many times before and being the daughter of Jane Pearl, showed her multiple talents on vocals, guitar, and mandolin. It was a nice, witty, mostly light and mellow set, just perfect for a noontime show on a Saturday.

Together, there was plenty of harmonizing going on, and all three women were obviously having fun. So keep your eyes and ears open for goings on at Great Escape. They do these in-store concerts quite frequently, feature all kinds of musical styles, and best of all, it’s always free! And it’s a good opportunity to pick up the preformers’ CDs and get them signed by the artists. Check it out.
