15th Annual Duncan Hines Festival

The Bowling Green Junior Woman’s Club is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the 15th Annual Duncan Hines Festival 2011 events beginning in historic downtown Bowling Green and ending at the WKU Kentucky Library & Museum.
To commemorate the legacy of our local resident, Duncan Hines, there will many events held in celebration! This festival has something for everyone!!
Thursday, July 7th at 7:05pm: Kicking off the excitement will be BGJWC’s Duncan Hines Festival Night at the BG Hot Rods game. Tickets for the game are $10.00 with $5.00 going to support the Duncan Hines Festival when you pre-order your tickets at 270-901-2121, specifying you’re with the BGJWC group. Additional special opportunities at the game include adopting ducks for Uncle’s Duncan’s Duck Derby & BGJRWC Member Lyndsey Whitaker will be singing the National Anthem.
Friday, July 8th, 5:00 to 10:00 pm: There will be an exciting Concert in the Park event, starring the amazing Tyrone Dunn Experiment, whose soulful R & B vocal styles guarantee your enjoyment! There will also be great food, drinks and local vendors offering massages, jewelry and games, providing fun for the whole family! This event is FREE to the public! Everyone is encouraged to adopt a duck for $5, or five ducks for $20, for a chance to win up to $2000 in cash in Uncle Duncan’s Duck Derby!!
Friday, August 12: Calling all bakers! The Adventures in Good Baking Contest will be held at the WKU Kentucky Library & Museum. The bake-off consists of baked goods made using Duncan Hines products. Contestants will begin entering their items at 5:00. After judging, there will be a tasting of all of the wonderful treats! The winners for Best Taste, Best Presentation and Thinking Outside the (Cake)Box will be announced at 7:30. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
August 12th thru August 26th: For all of you art lovers out there, come join us in the Gallery Hop! The Duncan Hines Art Exhibit will be located at the WKU Kentucky Library & Museum, opening on August 12th, from 5:00-8:00PM. Up for auction will be pieces in both professional and amateur classes, covering four categories: Painting & Watercolors, Photography, Sculpture & Ceramics, and Mixed Media. All art will remain on exhibit through August 26.
The Duncan Hines Festival is an annual fundraiser to benefit selected local nonprofits and is sponsored by Pinnacle Foods Group and many others. The recipients for this year’s charity events are the Boys and Girls Club and Dream Factory. The public is encouraged to bring the whole family, lawn chairs or blanket, and donations.
