Twelfth Annual Concert on the Square presents the Nashville Symphony

Enjoy the music of the Nashville Symphony at Glasgow’s Annual Concert on the Square in downtown Glasgow on Friday, July 1. The Concert on the Square, held annually since 1999, is provided free to the public through the support of community-minded sponsors. Classical and patriotic music will fill the air beginning at 7:00 pm, CDT. It’s a festive event to celebrate the Fourth of July with family, friends and out of town guests. Over 3,300 attended last year’s concert.

As a national and international ambassador for the citizens of Tennessee, the Nashville Symphony has received far-reaching acclaim for its 18 recordings on Naxos, the world’s leading classical label, and one on Decca, making the Nashville Symphony currently one of the most active recording orchestras in the country. These recordings have received 13 total GRAMMY® nominations and six GRAMMY® wins, most recently for the orchestra’s recording of works by American composer Michael Daugherty. The winning categories included Best Orchestral Performance.
The use of video or audio recording equipment and/or flash cameras is strictly prohibited during the Symphony’s performance. Patrons are asked to turn off signal watches, pagers and cell phones.
Concert set-up is scheduled to begin the morning of July 1, therefore traffic access to portions the square will be limited. The west side of the square, Race Street, will remain open all day.
Food vendors will set up in front of the Barren County Courthouse by 5:30 pm. A limited number of chairs are provided, but it is a good idea to bring your own chairs or blankets for seating. You may bring your own picnic supper, but do not bring glass containers. Pre-concert entertainment will be provided by well-known Broadway the Clown, who will travel through the crowd performing magic tricks as well as creating magic with balloons.
Upon arrival to the Concert, members of the Ambassadors Club from the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce will greet you with a smile and a program and will assist in finding seating.
