GLASGOW — Billy George Elmore, 69, of Glasgow, died May 2, 2011, at his home.

The Springfield, Ill., native lived in Glasgow and Barren County for most of his life. Billy was a graduate of Temple Hill High School and Western Kentucky University. He taught electricity at the Barren County Vocational School for 10 years before returning to full-time work as an electrical contractor with his company, Elmore Construction. He was a member and served many years as deacon at Glasgow Baptist Church and most recently was in charge of the kitchen and Wednesday night cooking teams. He was very active with Habitat for Humanity, where he had served as past president and loved building the homes. He was also involved with the ReStore for Habitat for Humanity and was an active member and past president of the Barren River Rod and Gun Club. Billy enjoyed volunteering for the Plaza Theatre and the Far Off Broadway Players, where he enjoyed helping to build the sets. He had also served with the 623rd F.A. Kentucky National Guard. He was a son of the late Garnett and Minnie Humphrey. He was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Elmore Hunt.

Funeral is at noon Thursday at Glasgow Baptist Church, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is in progress today at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home and continues at 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Bonita Dyer Elmore; three daughters, Michelle Inman and her husband, Joey, and Elizabeth “Beth” Sheesley and her husband, Scott, all of Glasgow, and Gayla Seale and her husband, Ron Jr., of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren, Weston Thomas Inman and Carsen Ann Inman; a sister, Betty Denton of Glasgow; a brother, Brian Elmore of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
