Hidden eggs, special meals and plenty of photo opportunities will be available at Kentucky State Parks this month as the Easter Bunny makes his way across the state.

Many state parks will be holding special events during Easter weekend. All 17 resort park restaurants will be serving a special Easter Buffet on April 24. The dinners will be served from noon until 8 p.m. at all 17 resort parks. The menu includes beef carved on the line, baked country ham, golden fried catfish and hushpuppies. The meal will also include fresh fruit, a cheese bar, garden vegetables, salad and desserts.

The price for adults is $17.95 and children (12 and under) are $7.95. Prices do not include tax. The price includes a beverage.

• Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, Mount Olivet – April 23 The Blue Lick’s Battlefield Commission has donated Easter eggs for this year’s hunt at Blue Licks. It will take place at the Worthington Lodge lawn at 11 a.m. on April 23. Prizes will be awarded for several age groups ranging from 0-2 years old, 3-4 years old, 6-8 years old and 9-12 years old. • Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park, Buckhorn – April 24 Come see the Easter Bunny during the Easter Egg Hunt at Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park Sunday April 24, at 2:30 p.m. The hunt is free to all children 12 and under (children will be divided into age groups) and will take place on the Marina Road.  This event is sponsored by Buckhorn Scenic Trail Association and Coal Mining Our Future.  Pictures will be available at Gordon’s Photo Center in Hazard afterwards.  For more information, call Buckhorn Lake at 800-325-0058.
• Carter Caves State Resort Park, Olive Hill – April 23-24 Carter Caves will have family-oriented programs throughout the weekend, including Easter egg coloring, a nature walk and games.  On Easter Day, the park will serve its Easter buffet and will have its annual Easter Egg Hunt with over 1,000 Easter eggs for children 12 and under.  Tours of Cascade and X-cave will be on a regular schedule. • Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, Corbin – April 24 Cumberland Falls will host an egg hunt for children ages 10 and under at 2:30 p.m. on April 24. Meet at the pavilion behind the community pool. Prizes will be given. Call 1-800-325-0063.
• Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, Burkesville – April 23 Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park along with First & Farmers Bank & Equity Group – Kentucky Division LLC have traveled east of the sunrise to Bunny Hollow where Peter Cottontail invites you to join him in eating pancakes. Bring your camera and have your photo taken with him on April 23, 2011 from 7-9:30 a.m.  At 10:30 a.m. Peter will begin his egg hunt in the campground.  Eggs of all colors have been hidden with a prize egg in each of the following age categories 3 and under, ages 4-5, 6-8, and 9-11.  Come early and register to win a free bicycle to be given away after the hunt.  For more information, contact Jamie Avery at 1-800-325-2282 or jamie.avery@ky.gov.
• Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, Prestonsburg – April 23 Come join Jenny Wiley State Resort Park at 2 p.m. for our egg hunt and see if you can find some of the 2,000 eggs that will be hidden in our campground.  There will be candy-filled eggs and prize-filled eggs to be found for ages 12 and under.  Don’t forget to bring a basket and each child must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.  Call 1-800-325-0142.
• John James Audubon State Park, Henderson – April 16 Join us for our annual “Eggstravaganza” from 10:30-noon on April 16. Bring those little bunnies ages 3-8, for a Hoppin’ good time with “Funny Bunnies Art,” storytelling, music, games and snacks. Eggstra surprises will await you at the John James Audubon Museum. • Kenlake State Resort Park, Aurora – April 24 Kenlake will hold an Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. with prizes for different age categories through 12 years old. An Easter photo setting will be available so bring your camera. Call 1-800-325-0143.
• Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, Gilbertsville – April 24 Following the Easter buffet, the park’s employees will host the most egg-citing Easter Egg Hunt in the area! Located across the street from the main lodge, the free hunt will feature four age divisions; ages 0-3,  4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Each age division will have a small number of “special eggs” mixed in, which will award additional prizes. A visit with the Easter Bunny is also planned from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the main lodge, with the egg hunt beginning at 2:30 p.m. For more information, call 1-800-325-0146.
• Lake Barkley State Resort Park, Cadiz – April 24 Lake Barkley showers the fields with eggs in our Egg-ceptional Egg Hunt! Beginning at 3 p.m. at the Lake Barkley Fitness Center, the Easter Bunny will make an appearance at 2:30 p.m., so don’t forget your camera!  From toddlers to teenagers, bring your baskets and gather some egg-ceptional goodies. • Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, Dawson Springs – April 24 Make Easter Eggciting at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park! Easter Bunny Pictures ($2/each) at the lodge at 1:30 p.m.; free Easter Egg Hunt at lodge at 2:30 p.m. The free egg hunt is divided into four age categories: 3 and under, ages 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.
