Sleeper Agent making their mark as Best Discovery of SXSW

Sleeper Agent, recently signed by Mom and Pop records, was one of several local bands invited to perform at South By Southwest this year and like Cage The Elephant before them, they seem to be on the verge of their big break as a result.
Spin magazine’s Peter Gaston, Interactive Director for spin.com chose Sleeper Agent as the Best Discovery at SXSW, saying “The Kentucky-based quintet’s playful, Southern fried, boy-vs-girl power pop is instantly loveable — but also potentially a good look for college-bound teens growning out of their Paramore fixation, starring singer Alex Kandel as their new favorite frontwoman.”

Other mentions include: The Nashville Scene which posted a nice slideshow from the band’s March 17 showcase that can be seen at www.nashvillescene.com/gyrobase/ImageArchives?page=3&oid=2324818 and Nikon who posted an interview on Vimeo with the group at vimeo.com/21209967. In the interview, Allision Hagendorf seems to surprise the band when she informs them that they are the buzz of SXSW.
Sleeper Agent continues to keep fans posted through Facebook, where they crossed 2000 “likes” this week as well as MySpace and Twitter. They maintain a very interesting vlog on their YouTube channel where you can catch all the shannigans as they tour with buddies Cage The Elephant. Cage has since the beginnings of their success helped promote other local groups including Sleeper Agent.
The video embedded below, entitled Tour Cherry: EP VI Chicago Part 2 is the last in a series from their Spring tour with Cage The Elephant. It includes an onstage return prank they pulled during Cage’s set as well as a sneek peak of a new song Career Suicide that was written on the road. Footage of their SXSW experience should be up soon.
