3rd Annual WKU Open Chess Tournament April 15-17

The WKU Chess Club will host the third annual RJ Young WKU Open on April 15-17 at the Garrett Conference Center.
About 100 adults and 250 children are expected to attend the tournament, which will include an adult section as well as college team and scholastic (K-12) individual/team events.
Special guests for the WKU Open include Jason Cao of Canada, the under-10 world chess champion who will compete in the open tournament; Steve Zierk, the under-18 world chess champion; along with FIDE Master Todd Andrews and International Master Ron Burnett of the Nashville Chess Center. Jason’s father, Dr. Yunxu Cao, will present a talk at WKU titled Development of virus-sized particles as antigen carriers for immunotherapy of cancer.
On April 15, Zierk and Jason Cao will present a simultaneous exhibition playing up to 20 people at the same time.
