The “All Aboard” Series continues at the L&N Depot, Saturday, March 26, 8:30AM with “A League of Their Own: Railroad Baseball” by Tom Gauthier, Hot Rods Director of Broadcast/Media Relations.
“We enjoy researching the relationship between the railroad and the community. The L&N once had numerous sports teams for different divisions that played in a minor league of its own,” states Sharon Tabor, Executive Director. “We found references to Pee Wee Reese and Roy Acuff among the material and engaged the assistance of the Hot Rods staff to find out more about something they know best: baseball.”
Join Tom Gauthier as he shares the history behind the long forgotten minor league railroad baseball teams. Learn the connection of baseball legend Pee Wee Reese and Country Music icon Roy Acuff’s to the L&N railroad and baseball.
