Theft — Gander Mountain store manager Chris Robbins reported to Bowling Green city police Monday that a man came into the store and tried to return $900 in merchandise to get a store credit or cash, according to police records.

The man did not have a receipt or identification on him. Another manager denied the merchandise return.
Robbins became suspicious and checked the store’s inventory. He discovered that the store was missing the same number of items that the unnamed man tried to return.
Robbins then reviewed surveillance video with police. The video showed the man walking into the store Saturday, picking up several items and entering the men’s restroom. The video shows him exiting the men’s room with a Gander Mountain shopping bag believed to be used in an attempt to show that he had paid for the items, records said.
Items missing from the store’s inventory include three flashlights, ammunition and hunting scopes. The merchandise is valued at $989.85.
The case remains open.
