Fashionista to the Rescue: Around Town with Bowling Green’s Most Fashionable

Ever see a fashionista walking down the street and wonder, “What’s her inspiration?”  “Where did she get her outfit?”  There are plenty of stylish women walking around in Bowling Green and I chose to sit down with two local fashionista’s and get their take on fashion and style.  Hope you enjoy!

Describe Your Personal Style?

LB: Eclectic!  I have pieces I love all across the board from classic to edgy.  Some days I’m Jackie O and other days I’m a Kardashian!

One piece you believe is worth the splurge?

LB:   A designer handbag.  For me it’s a Louis Vuitton.

One Spring Must Have Trend?

LB: A bold disco-inspired dress…Depending on your accessory pairings, this is a great piece for day or night.

Biggest Fashion Mistake You Ever Made?

LB: When I was a little girl, around 5, I piled on a western plaid snap button shirt with a wool Tartan plaid pleated skirt, argyle socks and a raincoat with plaid lining.  In my young mind the fact they were all some sort of plaid, that commonality made them match.  My mother panicked and my dad said it was the only way I’d learn…He was right.  And, that very experience is why I say there are no mistakes, only lessons to be learned in fashion.   As long as you are breathing, your style is always evolving.

All time Favorite Outfit? What event was it for?

LB: When I was in the Miss Kentucky pageant, a really long time ago, I had a red pant suit that I wore to one of the weeks’ events.  It looked like soaking wet, red snake skin, and I loved it and everyone else did too—it was soooo me! I still have it.  And, I fully intend to wear it again when I am that size again (wink).

Favorite city to shop in and why?

LB: I lived in Atlanta for some time and I adore the shopping there.  In fact, the shopping is probably what I miss most about living there.  You have everything from Neiman Marcus to great vintage stores to the absolute best boutiques in the south.  I also love, love, love shopping in Chicago.

Describe Your Personal Style?

MP: I would say my personal style is contemporary with a vintage/bohemian flare! I also love classic style and I mix those vintage finds with a classic black dress or crisp white shirt for a fun new look!

What is your “go to” outfit that always works?

MP: Well I try to wear things that flatter my body type. I have small shoulders and curves at the bottom so my outfit that works is an outfit that flatters both. A white blouse or t-shirt with a structured jacket or blazer and a pair of skinny jeans!

Favorite Brands?

MP: Judith March Dresses, Henry and Belle and Joes Jeans, Miss Me Couture for “going out” tops, &Green Dragon because I love their linens and embroidery

Favorite shop outside of Bowling Green?

MP:Planet Blue in L.A.

Why do you love Fashion?

MP: I love fashion because it’s always changing. It gives us the opportunity to express our personal style and show who we are without words. Women are so many things; sweet, sexy, mysterious, or classic beauties, fashion gives us the chance to show who we are!
