Mary Jonell Perkins, 79, of Winter Park, Fla., formerly of Bowling Green, died Jan. 29, 2011, at a Winter Park nursing home.
The Warren County native was born March 8, 1931. She was a homemaker. She married her beloved husband, David S. Perkins, on Feb. 2, 1951, in the territory of Alaska and they spent 50 years sharing their lives and raising a family in France, Belgium and Winter Park. She was a daughter of the late Jesse Milton Burris and Mary Pearl Martin Burris and the wife of the late David S. Perkins. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Perkins; two brothers, Charles and Jimmy Burris; and a sister, Shirley Reynolds.
Funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green chapel, with burial in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Kay Perkins-Day of Winter Park; three sons, David M. Perkins and his wife, Bonnie, and Ray F. Perkins and his wife, Lori, all of Bakersville, N.C., and Mark Perkins of Winter Park; four grandchildren, Ian Perkins of Macon, Ga., Jesse Day of Winter Park and Damon and Marley Perkins, both of Bakersville; a great-grandson, Sailor Perkins of Macon, Ga.; a brother, Hoy Burris and his wife, Barbara, of Castleberry, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Nell Burke of Bowling Green and Faye Burris of Scottsville; and several nieces and nephews.
