As Valentine’s Day quickly approaches, many of you who find yourself in a relationship become panic stricken with one question, “What will I get my significant other?”  Many will stick with the traditional flowers and candy, but I suggest going for something with a little more style and personality.  Most importantly, think about the person you are buying for and get them something that they will truly love.  The best gift you can give does not necessarily mean the most expensive.  Many times, the most thoughtful gifts can be the least expensive. 

Guys can be impossible to buy for.  If you find yourself pondering what to get him, consider gifts that he may think are unnecessary or excessive.  Unlike us girls, the men in our lives typically don’t self indulge as often as we do.  Looking for the perfect gift for the woman in your life, here’s a little tip on gift giving.  Girls always drop hints around major gift giving holidays. So, listen up and she will tell you exactly what she’s hoping for.

For the Girls:

1.     Girls love to be pampered!  Often times women, especially mothers, don’t take the time out of their busy schedule to treat themselves.  Make this a priority in her life with a gift card to a spa.  Maybe a new hair style and color is just what she needs to update her look.

2.    As the snow keeps coming, many of us are anxiously awaiting spring. Get her ready with a fabulous pair of designer sunglasses.  Large tortoiseshell frames are always a classic and look great on everyone.

3.    I personally never understood the appeal of a dozen roses.  Pretty, yes, but in a weeks time, they are only a memory.  Instead of dropping $100 on roses, get her a great pair of killer heels.  Any girl with a little style will appreciate your fabulous gift.

4.    If she is a fitness chick, get her a great set of workout clothes that show off her awesome figure. Zobha and Lulumon are two of my favorite brands.

5.    If it’s a new relationship and a big gift is excessive, a thoughtful card and Starbucks gift card is a perfect solution.  Every girl I know needs her Starbucks fix!

For the Guys:

1.     For some reason, every guy I know loves a monogrammed decanter.  Maybe it’s a James Bond fantasy, I don’t know. I just know that is a guaranteed hit.

2.    If your guy is a runner or gym rat, try a sports watch.  With distance calculators and heart rate monitors, these watches will tell him everything that he needs to know about his workout.  My favorite brands are Garmin and Polar.

3.    Does your guy have a favorite team or band?  Hit up Ticketmaster for their next event.  Make it a couple’s weekend or score major points and give the extra ticket to his best friend.

4.    I believe the old saying “the quickest way to a man’s heart is through is stomach” is 100% true!  Invite him over for a delicious home cooked meal and he’s sure to fall madly in love!
