GLASGOW — Rondel E. Poynter, 71, of Glasgow, died Dec. 24, 2010, at the Hospice Center in Bowling Green.
The Dearborn, Mich., native served with the United States Marine Corps, was a former manager of First Federal Savings & Loan in Glasgow, a former employee of Williams Construction, and was a retired salesman for StarGazer Satellite Systems in Bowling Green. He loved gardening, jazz and the Louisville Cardinals. He was a son of the late Elmer Poynter and Cornelia Williams Poynter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Poynter; and a sister, Sandra Spillman.
Funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Southern Kentucky Hospice Center or Josh’s Friends.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nancy Coppage Poynter; a daughter, Julie Tigner and her husband, Chuck; three sons, Choppy Poynter and his wife, Joni, Chris Poynter and his wife, Lori, and John Poynter and his wife, April; and 10 grandchildren. His family gives heartfelt thanks to Lisa Wilson of Hospice in Glasgow.
