Elva Scott

Elva Scott, 81, of Bowling Green, died Nov. 8, 2010, at her residence.

The Tompkinsville native was born Dec. 2, 1928. She was a seamstress for Union Underwear for 38 years. She attended Christian Fellowship Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She loved watching her favorite soap operas and feeding the squirrels and birds outside her home. She looked forward to spending every weekend with Judah, her faithful pitbull friend. She was a daughter of the late John Wesley Stewart and Jazzie Eads Stewart and the wife of the late Jack Scott, who died in September 1975. She was preceded in death by a son, John W. Scott; three grandchildren, Tammy Manning Scott, David H. Scott Jr. and Christopher L. Scott; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral is at 10 a.m. Thursday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include a daughter, Joereen Middleton and her husband, Jack, of Alvaton; two sons, Darrell Scott and his wife, Helen, of Bowling Green and David Scott and his wife, Carol, of Scottsville; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Stewart and his wife, Nella, of Monroe County; two sisters, Kathleen Davis and her husband, Bill, and Clorene Dyer, all of Monroe County; several nieces and nephews; and a former son-in-law, Ronnie Epley Sr. of Smiths Grove.
