You Be the Judge!

Beethoven or Schubert? The Duke or the Chairman of the Board? You be the judge! Maestro Jeffrey Reed and Orchestra Kentucky present the music candidates, but the audience chooses the selection to be performed by voting at the concert.
“This should be a lot of fun for the audience and the orchestra. The candidates will be familiar, maybe not by name or composer, but because of the music itself,” said Maestro Reed.
The orchestra will play a sample from each composer candidate. The audience will then vote by raising their ballots in support of the music they want to hear. The ballots will be “counted” and the winning selection will then be performed.
The musical choices include favorites from the usual suspects – Beethoven (Symphony No. 5), Copland (Hoedown), and Rossini (William Tell Overture aka, The Lone Ranger theme) to name a few. Also on the ballot, the music of Frank Sinatra (Salute to Ol’ Blue Eyes), Marvin Hamlisch (A Chorus Line) and Richard Rodgers (The Sound of Music). Whether or not any of these will be performed is up to you, because you will be the judge!
“Of course, we’ll be rehearsing all the selections – it’s like preparing for two concerts,” added Maestro Reed. “The one piece I know we’ll be playing is the finale from Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite.” For this selection, the orchestra will be joined by local, non-professional musicians in the first ever ProAm Concert Event. The ProAm Concert Event is designed to increase the community’s involvement in music and to serve as a cultural resource for South Central Kentucky.
