SOKY Reads! is a community wide reading project that brings readers of all ages together around one great book.  The book selected this year is Sweeping Up Glass written by Carolyn Wall.

Sweeping Up Glass is a novel of love, race, justice, and the power of family.  The novel takes place in Pope County, Kentucky, a land where whites and blacks attempt to eke out a living and the silver-faced wolves howl in the night.

“The novel has received rave reviews, both from readers and professional review sources, says library assistant director, Ashley Fowlkes.  “It has even been compared to one of my favorites books — To Kill a Mockingbird. It’s sure to take readers on a poignant journey they won’t soon forget and make for engaging discussions throughout our community. I’m really looking forward to it!”

The kick off will take place at the Main Library on Thursday, September 30 at 6:00 p.m.  Come get a free copy of the book and enjoy some old-time fiddling Bluegrass by the band Too Young To Marry.
