“That’s right,” says Ed Lawrence, communications director for the state agency. “We want you to like us, we want you to follow us, we want you to view us and we want you to join in the conversation on our Creative Communities blog.”

The state agency has entered the realm of social networking to build online communities of people who share an interest in the arts. As another communications tool, these platforms will be helpful in providing meaningful information and technical assistance to constituents, learning about the needs of constituents and promoting agency activities as well as arts events and artists across the Commonwealth.

To meet the social media staff at the arts council, go to the agency’s YouTube site at http://www.youtube.com/user/KYArtsCouncil and select the video “Give Us Some Face Time.”

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
