It’s that time of year again! The Friday night Concerts in the Park series is back, and Lead Based Paint kicked off this 2010 season. Well, sort of. As the start time of 6:30 PM was nearing some raindrops started to fall. That, along with some ominous-looking weather radar, forced the Fountain Square Park indoors to Utley’s on the square.
Those who followed the band inside were treated to some great blues-based rock and roll. Classics such as “Youngblood” and tunes by artists such as Eric Clapton were covered well by the band. Two songs, Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain”, and Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” featured Madeline Simpson on vocals, and she did a very nice job, particularly on the latter. Don Dobernic Jr., previously not seen with this band last year, added a new dimension to the sound with his acoustic guitar. So even though the crowd was a lot smaller because of the move indoors, it was a spirited bunch and a good time was had by all. Welcome back, Concerts in the Park.
