Steve Gaines is the editorial page editor for the Daily News. He began working at the Daily News in January 2001 and was a court and police reporter until September 2003, when he was promoted to associate editorial page editor. He was promoted to his current position in September 2005.

Gaines, a Bowling Green native, is a graduate of Bowling Green High School and is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where he studied journalism. Gaines is a former member of the Jaycees and a member of Christ Episcopal Church.

Steve is an avid hunter and fisherman. He is also a member of Ducks Unlimited and National Wild Turkey Federation.
