Joe Imel is the Assistant Managing Editor/Photo for the Daily News.

He joined the staff of the Daily News in 1992 after working at the Hardin County Independent and the McClean County News.

Imel a graduate of Ft. Knox High School, spent time as a military brat at Army bases in 6 states and Germany. He is an alumnus of Western Kentucky University where he taught basic photojournalism as part-time faculty. He is in his 8th term as the president of the Kentucky News Photographers Association. He has won numerous awards from the National Press Photographers Association, KNPA, Kentucky Press Association and the Associated Press. Imel’s work has appeared in Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, ESPN the Magazine, Time, Fortune, Kentucky Living Magazine and in regional and national magazines and newspapers.

Joe and his wife, Tracy, have a son, Zach.
