E. Duane Gantz

GLASGOW — E. Duane Gantz, 85, of Glasgow, died May 29, 2010, at a Glasgow nursing home.

The Alliance, Ohio, native was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He moved to Glasgow in 1969 while employed with Tyson Bearing Co. and then to Florida in 1979 as an employee of Valenite/GTE. After retirement in Florida, he kept active as a volunteer for businesses and organizations until his recent move back to Glasgow. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church. He was a son of the late Emmet H. and Ruth Williams Gantz and the husband of the late Betty Montler Gantz, who died in December. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Gantz.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held by the family at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Cremation was chosen.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Payne and her husband, John, Judy Downing and her husband, Joe Burton, all of Glasgow and Jane Toms and her husband, Philip, of Lexington; three sons, Jerry Gantz and his wife, Carla, of Glasgow, Michael Gantz and his wife, Lee Ann, of Bowling Green, and Tom Gantz of Ellenton, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; a great-stepgrandchild; a brother, Bob Gantz and his wife, Gay, of Alliance; a sister, Marilyn Marty and her husband, Bob, of Alliance; a sister-in-law, Betty Gantz, of California; and several nieces and nephews.
