Fashionista to the Rescue

With many people looking to tighten their budgets in this economy, more and more are starting to look to consignment shops for their clothing needs.  In Bowling Green, we are very lucky to have many excellent consignment shops to choose from that stock top name brands at a fraction of the retail price.  Whether you are looking for that special party dress, maternity clothes or your wedding dress, these shops stock everything.  Elite Repeats is a wonderful example of a store that stocks only the best name brands such as Lily Pulitizer, Lacoste, and Talbots.  For this article, we decided to dress our model in items from Elite Repeats to show you what great items can be found on any given day.  Take these examples along with my do’s and don’ts of consignment shopping and hit these stores to find your own treasures!

Do’s:

  • -Try on your clothes!  These things have been worn so the sizing may be a little off than it was originally.
  • -Check stores on a regular basis.  Consignment boutiques are always taking in new merchandise.  New deals can be found every day.
  • -Check the merchandise carefully for any stains or tears.  Most stores do an excellent job at checking their items, but a few things can slip through.
  • -Stroll the accessories aisle.  High end bags and shoes are some of the best deals in the store and many times these are the least used items there.

Don’ts:

  • -Don’t buy it just because it’s a good deal.  Buy it because you love it and will get a lot of wear out of it.
  • -Don’t buy trendy items.  Invest you money into items that will last and be a classic.
  • -Don’t be in a rush!  Each rack is full of great deals so take your time to find them.
