Elaine Slamans

Elaine Slamans serves without need or want of recognition, but those who nominated her said it’s time for that to change. Elaine is perhaps known best for the volunteer work she has done for 25 years at Rosewood Health Care Center. For more than 20 years she has been president of the Helping Hands Club at the nursing home. One Saturday every month Elaine enlists and organizes others to come with her to the center, providing entertainment, fellowship or education for the residents. She also makes sure there is something tasty to eat those afternoons. During Christmas, Elaine often makes gifts for residents and solicits help from area businesses to provide residents with socks, toiletries and other personal items. She wraps each item with care just to make sure residents have gifts to open. Her visits don’t’ stop with the nursing home, as Elaine also visits friends and neighbors in Warren County hospitals or at the very least sends them cards and letter. In church, Elaine helps a group of ladies knit prayer shawls, lap robes and baby blankets for the sick and needy. Also at her church she helps in the children’s nursery, serves in Bible school and lends a hand in any church group when needed. Whether they have known her for four years or 25 years, area residents who nominated Elaine say she is a selfless and giving person.
