Oil paintings by Barren County native, Bonnie Smith Carter, are on exhibit at the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce. Bonnie, a graduate of Temple Hill High School, attended Western Kentucky University. She is the daughter of Mary Frances Smith and the late David Brent Smith. Bonnie and her husband, Bill, currently live in Cottontown, Tennessee. They are the parents of three children.
Upon her retirement after spending twenty-five years in real estate, she followed her passion for visual arts. She studied oil painting under the direction of Marion Bryant Cook, a very skilled and masterful artist. Bonnie says, “The majority of my work is from photographs . . . my camera is never far away.” She has exhibited her artwork in the Nashville area at Monthaven, Auld Alliance Gallery, Madison Art Guild, and Square Space Gallery as well as at other venues.
A reception, open to the public, will take place on Thursday, April 22, from 4:30-6:00pm at the Chamber of Commerce office at 118 East Public Square. Refreshments will be served. Stop by the Chamber at 118 East Public Square anytime between 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday-Friday, to view beautiful artwork by Bonnie Carter.
