The Southeast Tourism Society has selected the 14th Annual Duncan Hines Festival as one of its Top 20 Events for August 2010. The festival, presented by the Bowling Green Junior Woman’s Club and nominated by the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, will take place Friday, August 13 at Circus Square Park.
This free community event celebrates the life and career of Bowling Green native Duncan Hines with a street dance featuring live music, Uncle Duncan’s Duck Derby, an art contest and exhibition, a create-your-own-recipe contest, giveaways, and more family fun. This year’s festival again will be held in conjunction with the August Bowling Green Gallery Hop and will occur the week after Concerts in the Park concludes, continuing the Friday night downtown entertainment for another week.
Events across the Southeast compete to receive the prestigious Top 20 Events designation. Through a nomination process, STS chooses the Top 20 events in the Southeast for each month of the year and publishes a list of winners quarterly. The Top 20 Events publication is sent to over 1,600 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations, AAA publications, and others.
The Southeast Tourism Society promotes travel, sustainable tourism and the importance of the travel and tourism industry in 12 Southeastern states. STS members represent varying facets of the travel industry and work cooperatively to strengthen the region as a travel and tourism destination.
