Don Brooks

Don Brooks, 81, of Bowling Green, died at 10:37 p.m. Feb. 25, 2010, at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital.
The Independence, Mo., native was a pipefitter and welder, having worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron for 10 years and retiring after 35 years in the pipefitter industry. He was a member of the Louisville Pipefitters Union No. 502 and a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II and Korea. He was a charter member of Lincoln Trail Christian Church in Irvington and a member of both North Hardin Christian Church in Radcliff and Bowling Green Christian Church. He was a son of the late Claude Brooks and Georgia Kennedy Brooks. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dixon Sheldon Brooks; and two sisters, Virginia Brooks and Margaret Currie.
Funeral is at 1 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Lincoln Trail Christian Church in Irvington, North Hardin Christian Church in Radcliff or Bowling Green Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Jean Brooks; a daughter, Beth Schreiner and her husband, Brian, of Alvaton; two sisters, Mary Ellen Jenkins, of Chilhowee, Mo., and Doris Jean McGaw, of Bolivar, Mo.; two grandchildren, Brooke and Blake Schreiner; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
