The Capitol Arts Alliance and Fountain Square Players are “teaming up” to bring to Bowling Green the Most Valuable Player

Most Valuable Player celebrates the life of Jackie Robinson, an extraordinary man who fights against the prejudices prevalent in American society.  The play takes the audience on journey through a chronicle of Jackie’s life.  Starting at a young age, Jackie displays a strong passion for baseball and a burning desire to overcome the odds.  His outstanding athletic ability and determination eventually pay off when he is noticed by the manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers.  Jackie is the first black player in the history of Major League Baseball.  Practicing passive resistance to the jibes and threats of a hostile society, Jackie wins the respect of crowds and players alike as nasty boos turn into resounding cheers with the greatest feat coming when he was named Most Valuable Player in 1949.  This play takes the audience on a journey through a time in American history that is very important and makes us all realize how much things have changed in modern day times.
