Kathryn R. Lyon, 92, passed away Feb. 11, 2010, at a Somerset nursing home.
The Lafayette, Tenn., native was born Dec. 19, 1917. Mrs. Lyon attended Louisville School of Nursing and Nazareth College. She was employed as a chemist for DuPont in Louisville and worked for the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C., from 1967-1985, when she retired and returned to Bowling Green. During her retirement, she served as a volunteer for The Medical Center at Bowling Green. She was a former resident of Ashland, where her husband practiced medicine. She was a daughter of the late Lemuel D. Robinson and Cora Cook Robinson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lemuel D. Robinson Jr. and Clay Robinson; and a sister, Evelyn Roddy.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with a funeral service held immediately after the visitation. The Rev. William C. Hopper of First Baptist Church will conduct the service. A memorial service will be May 15 at Fairview Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Wendell V. Lyon Jr., of Somerset, and Hugh L. Lyon, of Flatwoods; a daughter, Kathy A. Lyon and her husband, Jerry Walden, of Rock Hill, S.C.; her favorite daughter-in-law, Ann W. Lyon, of Monticello; a brother, W.C. Robinson, of Florence; three sisters, Paige Gaines, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Naomi Schrenk and her husband, Dale, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Margaret Clark and her husband, Tom, of Evansville, Ind.; a half sister, Anna Langston, of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister-in-law, Antonia Weed, of Goldenrod, Fla.; four grandsons, Hugh Schwartz and his wife, Sherrill, of Kingsman, Ariz., Steven Lyon and his wife, Sherrie, of Ashland, Christopher Lyon and his wife, Pam, of Monticello, and Daniel Lyon and his wife, Amana, of Bowling Green; seven great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.
