TOMPKINSVILLE — John Douglas Evans, 72, of Tompkinsville, died Dec. 18, 2009.

The Monroe County native was born Jan. 12, 1937. He lived in the Turkey Neck Bend community, where he was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Turkey Neck Bend Church of Christ, a member of the Monroe County Cattlemen’s Association, the agri-tourism committee, the farm bureau and served in the National Guard. He was a son of the late Doug Evans and Bela White Evans.

Funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Strode Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Spear Evans, whom he married on Dec. 27, 1956; two daughters, Carol McClure and her husband, Mark, of Owatonna, Minn., and Kathy Page and her husband, Mike, of Crossville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Haley Kessinger, of Owatonna, and Matt and Daniel Page, of Crossville, Tenn.; a brother, Tom Evans, of Louisville; and an uncle, Clay Hundley, of Tompkinsville.
