Henry T. Carlisle Jr., 76, of Bowling Green, died at 9:10 a.m. Dec. 11, 2009, at his residence.

The Bethel, Tenn., native was born June 19, 1933. He was the retired general manager of Bowling Green Municipal Utilities, where he worked from 1959 until 1982. He was a member of Boston Church of Christ in Boston, Tenn., and attended Lost River Church of Christ in Bowling Green. A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, he served in the Navy on the USS Calvert. He served on the board of the former Bowling Green Bank & Trust, was president of the Rotary Club and served on the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce and the Boys Club board. He was owner of Honda Hut, manager for 10 years of TMC long-distance phone service, was former president of the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association and was active in the American Public Power Association. He was a son of the late Henry T. Carlisle Sr. and Merle Marlin Carlisle.

Funeral is at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, with burial in Williamson Memorial Gardens in Franklin, Tenn., at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Franklin.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jean Prince Carlisle; two sisters-in-law, Betty Wilson, of Smyrna, Tenn., and Doris Prince, of Spring Hill, Tenn.; a niece, Bethany Mullins; two nephews, John Prince and Steven Prince; three great-nephews, Dallas Prince, Grant Prince and Atticus Mullins of the U.S. Marines; a great-niece, Melinda Deakins; two adopted grandchildren, Ian and Grace Tweedy; a host of special friends; and three cousins, Gene Marlin, Sue Garner and Eloise Herse.
