Norman Armstrong

Norman “Jake Tootley” Armstrong, 63, of Bowling Green, died Dec. 5, 2009, at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital.

The Smiths Grove native was born Nov. 26, 1946. He attended High Street High School and was employed by First Fleet Trucking, from which he retired after 14 years of service. He was also a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Norman was a former Mason and Elks member. He loved all sports and enjoyed his career as a truck driver. He was a son of the late Roberta Pillow Anderson and John Armstrong and the stepson of the late Ewing Anderson. He was preceded in death by his stepsons, Bobby Lightfoot Jr., Bobby Lightfoot II and Abner Lightfoot; and a sister, Julia Helm.

Funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eleventh Street Baptist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Burnam & Son Mortuary.

Survivors include his stepchildren, Brian Keith Lightfoot and his wife, Kimberly, and Angela Lightfoot, all of Bowling Green; four sisters, Faye McKeage and her husband, Frank, Laura Johnson, Vetta Sublett and Sharon Wells and her husband, Willie, all of Bowling Green; a brother, Michael Pillow and his wife, Angela, of Bowling Green; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Joyce Gurley, Debra Corley and Larnce Helm, all of Bowling Green, Marlene Brown and her husband, George, of Gallatin, Tenn., and Jozeal Corley Jr. and his wife, Rosalind, of Nashville.
