Katie K. Hancock, of Russellville, dies at 106

RUSSELLVILLE — Katie Kingins Hancock, 106, of Russellville, died Nov. 27, 2009.

The Stewart County, Tenn., native was born Nov. 26, 1903. She managed the toy department of Hancock’s, which was owned by her late husband, N.C. “Pete” Hancock. She was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Samantha Glasgow Kingins.

Funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Temple, where she was a member, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Young Funeral Home, Russellville chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to United Methodist Temple.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Hancock and his wife, Peggy, of Russellville, and David C. Hancock and his wife, Phyllis, of Lexington; two daughters, Linda Nealy and her husband, Clyde, of Russellville, and Sarah Katherine Dickey, of Covington, La.; a daughter-in-law, Ann Hancock, of Lenoir, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
