POLICE NEWS: BG man accused of violating probation and identity theft

Jason Allen Grimes, 26, 952 Sunfish Roundhill Road, was arrested at about 11 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Morgantown Road on a warrant for violating the terms of probation/parole. According to a Bowling Green Police Department report, Grimes had been serving probation on charges of first-degree burglary and two counts of theft by unlawful taking.

Grimes reportedly gave a false name to police and his real identity was discovered when he was booked at Warren County Regional Jail, leading to an additional charge of theft of identity.

Grimes remains in Warren County Regional Jail under a $10,000 bond.

Burglary, criminal mischief — Someone broke a window on the door of an apartment and stole several checkbooks, a clock and a cordless screwdriver between 7 a.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Sunday, according to a city police report. Losses and damage totaled $76.

Criminal possession of a forged instrument, theft — A Bowling Green woman reported receiving $500 in counterfeit money through the mail Saturday, according to a city police report.

The woman said a friend from Alabama had asked her to loan him $500 for car repairs and that he would repay her once he got his paycheck. She sent the money to him Oct. 14, the report said.

The envelope containing the counterfeit money had the suspect’s name and Alabama address. The case remains under investigation.

Robbery — A Bowling Green man reported being robbed by two men outside Regal Auto Wash, 941 U.S. 31-W By-Pass, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to a city police report.

The victim, an employee at the car wash, said one of the men pointed a gun at him. The men were both black and one wore a long-sleeved navy blue or black shirt, dark, baggy jeans and a Michael Myers Halloween mask. The other wore a dark T-shirt, light blue jeans and a ski mask, the report said.

The robbers took $771 from the business and $2 from the victim. Police canvassing the area soon afterward were unable to locate the men.

Sexual abuse — A 21-year-old Bowling Green woman reported being sexually abused by an unknown man between 1:45 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday, according to a city police report.

The woman said she went to a bar for drinks and was offered a ride home by the man, whom she said was 25 to 30 years old, white with blonde hair and wearing a jail inmate Halloween costume.

The woman said the man drove her to a secluded setting and tried to force her to perform oral sex on him, but she was able to exit the vehicle after fighting with him, at which point the man drove off and left her. The investigation remains open.

Theft — Someone stole a rental car parked outside Brickyard Cafe, 1026 Chestnut St., between 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday, according to a city police report. The car, a 2009 Honda Accord, was valued at $20,000.

Theft, criminal mischief, criminal trespassing — Someone broke into Pro Lawn and Landscape, 2549 Petty Drive, and stole a bed edger, a seed spreader and a leaf blower from a fenced-in area outside the business between 5:30 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Monday, according to a city police report. A section of fencing had been cut. Damage and losses totaled $4,950.

Theft of a legend drug — Someone stole 80 prescription Klonopin pills and 35 prescription Neurontin pills from a residence in the 1700 block of O’Shea Street between noon Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday, according to a city police report.
