Skeleton’s Lair: Ten Years of Terror

This fall, Skeleton’s Lair is celebrating “Ten Years of Terror” with new scenes, over-the-top scares and horror film star appearances each weekend in October.  Skeleton’s Lair has three attractions: the haunted woods, the haunted hayride and the 3-D Mystery Zone.

Skeleton’s Lair is a high energy, interactive attraction which features special effects, lighting, animation, more than 50 actors and this year pyrotechnics have been incorporated into the production.  New scenes include the Ancient Burial grounds, a run-away bus and an explosion in Ghost Town.

In honor of the 10 year anniversary of the event, Skeleton’s Lair has scheduled a spooky line-up of horror celebrities to meet the guests throughout the month of October.  The line-up includes:

  • Oct. 9 & 10 – Courtney Gains – Children of the Corn
  • Oct. 16 & 17 – Bill Johnson – Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
  • Oct. 23 & 24 – Ken Kirzinger – Freddy vs. Jason
  • Oct. 30 & 31 – Eileen Dietz – The Exorcist

Courtney Gains’ successful acting career began with his memorable role as Malachi in Children of the Corn.  This year marks the 25th anniversary of the movie.  Gains has appeared in a variety of roles to date including Can’t Buy Me Love, Back To The Future, Memphis Belle, Sweet Home Alabama. In his spare time Gains is also an acting coach in Los Angeles and a musician.

Bill Johnson is best known for his portrayal of Leatherface in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.  He’s also appeared in films including Redboy 13, Talk Radio and D.O.A. 

Ken Kirzinger was born in Canada and got his start in the movie industry as a stuntman, scoring his first role as a stuntman in the film Superman 3.  The 6’5” Kirzinger has enjoyed success as both an actor and stuntman.  His most popular role garnered him national attention in the horror industry for his role as Jason Voorhees in the popular 2004 movie Freddy vs. Jason. 

Eileen Dietz has an extensive resume of acting credits.  Eileen appeared in Oscar winning film The Exorcist, in which she was cast for two parts, the Demon (better known as the Face of Death) and the possessed Regan (Linda Blair’s double). Other credits include the Emmy winning movie-of-the-week Helter Skelter, and the Emmy winning daytime soap General Hospital.

Skeleton’s Lair is now open Friday and Saturday nights plus Sunday, Oct. 25 and Thursday, Oct. 29.  The gates open at 7 p.m. and close at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, at 10 p.m. on Sunday and Thursday. Admission is $18. Skeleton’s Lair is proud to donate a portion of its proceeds to The American Red Cross of Bowling Green again this season.
