What is your background? Dr. Simpson graduated from Western Kentucky University and graduated from the University of Kentucky dental school in 1977. He practiced general dentistry for two years, went back and earned a specialty degree in orthodontics. He practiced in partnership for seven years, and opened a solo practice in 1990. He joined this practice in 2005 and will retire in December. Dr. Simpson was raised in Mayfield, is a competitive golfer, avid hiker and fitness buff. He has a wife, Melissa, and two sons, Matt and Jon.

Dr. Compton graduated from Georgetown College in 1996, the University of Kentucky dental school in 2001 and the University of Buffalo, where he specialized in orthodontics. He has a wife, Kara, and two sons, Jake and Charlie.

What are your biggest challenges as a business? Trying to create perfection in less than perfect circumstances. Making people realize just how important a beautiful smile is and getting teenagers to wear their retainers.

What’s your business philosophy? The Golden Rule and constantly asking ourselves what would we do if this was our child.

What issues are affecting your industry? The economy and companies cutting back on insurance coverage.

What issues are affecting your industry? Outstanding customer service, a warm family, friendly environment, using the most efficient treatment approach to patient care while striving to obtain excellence in treatment results.

What are the factors that make your business successful? Staying abreast of the latest advances on orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry and participating in numerous continuing education courses. We feel it is important to our patients to remain board certified, which is not required in private practice.
