Most Important School Supply @ your library

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, and the Warren County Public Library wants to make sure that your child has the smartest card of all – a library card. Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning.
“A library card is certainly the most important school supply,” says Lisa Rice, Director of the Warren County Public Library. “Students can come to the library for homework help and check out books, but they can also check out free music, DVDs and use the Internet to make after school life more fun.”

“Library cards are not just for kids. According to a recent survey by the American Library Association, 44% of parents report that they bring their children to the library because it gives them something to do together,” says Rice. “With today’s economy, family time at the library is a great value. The library and its resources are free with a library card.”
Activities at the Warren County Public Library during Library Card Sign-up Month will include two author events – Lauraine Snelling at Main on September 10 and Susan Crandall at Smiths Grove on September 21. Featured artist at the Main Library is Sarah Page and the work of Kim Soule is featured at the Bob Kirby Branch.
