Dorothy E. Watt Compton, 84, of Bowling Green died at 11:02 a.m. Aug. 13, 2009, at The Medical Center.
The Edmonson County native was born Sept. 28, 1924. She was a retired factory worker at Colt Industries/Holley Carburetor. She was a member of Shadyland Church of Christ. Her church family was an important part of her life. She loved sports, mainly University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball, and watching her grandson race. She was a daughter of the late Fred Watt and Stella Wilson Watt and the wife of the late William Francis “Bud” Compton. She was preceded in death by her loving son, Fred William “Billy” Compton; three sisters, Lucille Graham, Zelma Petty and Alene Wingfield; and three brothers, Woodrow, James “Jank” and Archie “Pete” Watt.
Funeral is at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shadyland Church of Christ, with burial in Otter Gap Church Cemetery in Edmonson County. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, and begins at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Cohron and her husband, Jerry, of Bowling Green; a son, Bobby Compton and his wife, Patty, of Bowling Green; her sister and best friend, Barbara Miller of Bowling Green; two brothers, Fred Watt and his wife, Lorene, of Edmonson County and Kenneth “John” Watt of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren, Ginger Massamore and her husband, David, of Madisonville, Stephen Cohron, Robert Cohron and his wife, Amanda, Micheal Compton and his wife, Sherry, Sonia Markham and her husband, John, and Melissa Moralas and her husband, Josa, all of Bowling Green, and Kimberly Cook and her husband, Gene, of Rocky Hill; a daughter-in-law, Joann Compton of Bowling Green; 15 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ashlyn, Clay, Trey, Chase, Lindsey, Cody, Shawn, Kalab, Dalton, Buster, Trey, Christopher, Reyna and Caeson; a great-great-grandchild; Addison; two sisters-in-law, Margie and Evelyn Watt; special friends, Jay and Joann Parrish of Bowling Green; and several special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, which she truly loved.
