Jason Childress, owner of Treasured Moments is a self taught photographer. “I have learned most of my knowledge from books, magazines and surrounding myself with fellow artists”, stated Jason. He said he has learned a lot by belonging to artistic clubs like the Sunny 16 Camera Club and Artworks: A Visual Arts Coalition. He has also learned from the professional photographers who develop his pictures at Shutterbug Photo Mall and said that he feels that when you have your pictures developed by professionals, you get a professional quality photograph.
Jason currently lives in Barren County but grew up in Warren County. “I have always loved the outdoors. I have spent most my life hiking and visiting local and national parks in Kentucky. I love seeing the beauty Kentucky has to offer, but would also like to travel to other states. These travels are what got me interested in photography. I have always had a camera in my hand, from my first 110 to a few years ago when I bought my first digital SLR.

“I have taken photographs across Kentucky and Tennessee. My specialty is nature and scenic photographs from waterfalls to old cars and houses. I want people to see the beauty Kentucky has to offer and for this reason I do not use Photoshop to enhance my pictures. When people visit the places in my photos I want them to see what I do when I look through the lens”.
The first contest Jason Childress entered was for the Bowling Green Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. He won first place in 2005. He said, “I never thought it would take me to where I am now”. His photography started to grow then and even his family is now interested in photography. They are the ones that came up with the name of his business, Treasured Moments. He has also won third place in the Scottsville Summer’s End Art Show, second place in Artworks Fine Art Exhibition, honorable mention in Glasgow-Barren County Tourist Commission Art Show and the U. S. Bank Celebration of the Arts Show. He has had solo exhibits at the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce and the Bob Kirby branch of the public library. You can catch his next show this fall at the main branch of the Bowling Green public library.
His future plans are to continue to exhibit his work. He is currently taking several pictures of Kentucky to send to publishers in hopes of getting a book of his pictures published. Jason said he would like to hold workshops at the state parks to help others learn to enjoy photography.
