The Rev. Windell R. Jones

MORGANTOWN — The Rev. Windell Ray Jones, 59, of Sugar Grove went home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2009, at his residence.

The Butler County native was a member and former pastor of The House of Prayer General Baptist Church and Pleasant Rock Baptist Church. He and his wife, Debbie, owned and operated Southern Kentucky Drywall and Dunbar One-Stop Grocery and Garage. He sang baritone in The Peacemakers gospel group. Windell was active in trap shooting, demolition derby, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a son of the late Chesley Newt Jones and Mable Gray Jones. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Earl Jones.

Funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Chapel, with burial in Noah Johnson Cemetery in Leonard Oak. Visitation is from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Sue Lucas Jones; two sons, Ronald Ray Jones and his companion, Annie Motley, of Sugar Grove and Derek Windell Jones and his wife, Christie, of Huntsville; two brothers and three sisters, Faye Cardwell and her husband, Joy, Jerry Jones and his wife, Patricia, Sue Powell, and Melinda Gidcumb and her husband, Garrett, all of Morgantown, and Wayne Jones of Bowling Green; and five grandchildren, Houston, Easton, Bryleigh, Talon and Lucas; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
