POLICE NEWS: BG man dies in motorcycle crash

A Bowling Green man was killed early today when his motorcycle crashed into a car at Russellville Road and Whispering Hills Boulevard.

Christopher R. Borders, 20, of 410 Stone Hollow Lane died at 3:32 a.m. at Vanderbilt University Medical Center injuries suffered in the crash.

According to a Bowling Green Police Department report, Borders was traveling west on Russellville Road in the right lane when his motorcycle collided shortly after midnight with a car driven by Litraca A. Shirley, 19, 3530 Lyons School Road, Glasgow.

Shirley reportedly told police that she was preparing to turn left from Whispering Hills Boulevard onto Russellville Road and had looked both ways prior to pulling out on to the road.

The report stated that a passenger in Shirley’s car told her to look out, at which point she looked to her left and saw the oncoming motorcycle.

She accelerated and attempted to make a wide turn, but was too late in avoiding a collision, the report stated.

Arrest — Santonio Lamar Boyd, 26, 210 Glen Lily Road, was arrested Sunday on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and operating on a suspended/revoked license.

According to a BGPD report, Boyd was stopped by an officer at about 1 p.m. Sunday while driving in the 1200 block of Durbin Drive.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found marijuana and cocaine, according to the report.

Boyd was released Monday on a $1,000 surety bond.

Arrest — Sheila Howard, 39, 1773 Holly St., was arrested Saturday on charges of first-degree promoting contraband, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating probation.

Officers saw Howard, who had an active warrant against her, walking east on West 12th Avenue at about 10:50 a.m. Saturday, according to a police report.

As Howard was booked at Warren County Regional Jail, officers found a pipe containing crack cocaine residue that had been dropped on the ground while officers searched her, the report said.

She remains jailed on a $6,000 bond.

Burglary — Someone broke into a residence in the 2000 block of Girkin Road and stole a 50-inch plasma TV, according to a Warren County Sheriff’s Office news release. Losses totaled $1,499.

Burglary — Someone broke into a residence in the 900 block of Shive Lane and stole a lock box containing $10,000 in cash between 3:15 p.m. and 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, according to a city police report. Entry was made by knocking out the glass on the rear door.

Burglary — Someone cut the screen on the front window of a house in the 1200 block of Stratford Drive between 7 p.m. and 9:43 p.m. Tuesday, according to a city police report. A pair of plastic gloves were found near the window. Nothing was taken from the house.

Burglary, theft — Someone entered a storage building in the 300 block of 10th Avenue and stole two buffers, a three-drawer toolbox and a vacuum between 11:45 a.m. and 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, according to a city police report. Losses totaled $4,050.

Criminal mischief — Someone broke the back window of an F-350 truck parked in the 500 block of Wall Street between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to a city police report. Damage totaled $500.

Criminal mischief — Large trucks drove over grass areas in Lampkin Park, 938 Morgantown Road, between 8 a.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday, causing $1,000 in damage, according to a city police report.

Indictment — Andre Faina, 23, of Pasadena, Texas, Deron Jennings, 21, of Baytown, Texas, and James Maes, 41, of Hardin, Texas, were indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury in Bowling Green on charges of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and of carrying firearms during and in relation to a federal drug trafficking crime.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the three engaged in the conspiracy on April 21 in Warren County, and Faina and Maes carried firearms.

The case was investigated by the Bowling Green Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in partnership with the Kentucky State Police.

Indictment — Jason R. Anderson, 22, of Madison, Tenn., was indicted Wednesday on charges of passing counterfeit currency.

Anderson allegedly passed counterfeit $10 and $20 bills in Warren County in January.

The case was investigated by the BGPD and the U.S. Secret Service.

Theft, criminal mischief — Someone stole barbed-wire fencing from a fenced-in area of Southern States, 640 Plum Springs Loop, between Saturday and Monday, according to a city police report. The lock to the fenced-in area had been cut off. Losses and damage totaled $810.

Theft — Someone stole a teal 1999 Suzuki Esteem station wagon parked in the 100 block of Hillridge Court between 6:38 p.m. and 8:38 p.m. Tuesday, according to a city police report. Losses totaled $2,000.

Theft — Someone stole a stereo system from a car parked in the 1800 block of Loop Drive between 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday, according to a city police report. Losses totaled $450.

Theft — Someone stole a blue 2005 Chevrolet Impala parked at Certified Auto, 1001 U.S. 31-W By-Pass, between 8 p.m. Friday and 8:40 a.m. Saturday, according to a city police report. Losses totaled $9,000.

Theft — Someone stole a Nikon camera, a hunting bow, a camouflage hunting case and two pairs of sunglasses from a garage in the 2100 block of Nashville Road between 6:20 a.m. and 6:35 a.m. Saturday, according to a city police report. The items, totaling $600, were recovered within the same block, along with a backpack containing a pair of running shoes and six pairs of sunglasses.
