BURLINGTON — Laura Belton Chaney, 18, died May 11, 2009, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

She was a 2008 graduate of Boone County High School and a freshman at Western Kentucky University. Laura was actively involved in her sorority, Sigma Kappa, and was pursuing a communications degree. She was loved deeply by her friends and family and leaves a legacy of laughs, tears and tenderness that will endure well beyond her short and joyous life here. She was a daughter of Dave and Kay Chaney of Florence, who survive. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jack and Mary Anne Hagler.

Funeral is at 11 a.m. EST Saturday at First Church of Christ in Burlington. Cremation will follow. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. EST Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home.

Other survivors include a brother, Allen Chaney of Florence; paternal grandparents, Alton and Betty Chaney; an uncle; and two aunts.
